JOB DESCRIPTION:A full-time postdoctoral traineeship on an NIH-funded T32 training grant entitled “Women’s Health and Intersectionality Using Data Science and Health Information Technology”. This T32 trainee program prepares nurse scientists with the knowledge and skills to employ Data Science (DS) and/or Health Information Technology (HIT) to improve women’s health while considering the intersectionality of multiple social determinants of health. This is in agreement with the overarching goals of Healthy People 2030, the NINR strategic plan (especially research lenses on health disparities and social determinants of health), the Trans-NIH Strategic Plan for Women’s Health Research, the IOM Report on Women’s Health Research, and the American Academy of Nursing’s Women’s Health Research Agenda. This training will build on the strengths of Emory University Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing’s currently funded research studies, faculty expertise, and supporting infrastructure. It will address women’s health issues with a conceptual focus on intersectionality among social determinants of health. Trainees will also develop knowledge and skills in interdisciplinary research methods related to women’s health, understand and apply DS and/or HIT, and/or develop and test interventions using DS and/or HIT in women’s health. Trainees will be engaged in research activities, research training seminars, interdisciplinary research, preparation of grants, scientific manuscripts, and reports, and work closely with a mentor. The initial appointment is for one year, renewal expected if progress is satisfactory and funds are available.

Postdoctoral fellow position available in the Conneely laboratory for a recent or soon-to-be graduate interested in analyzing data from large population-based cohorts to investigate the epigenetic and transcriptomic consequences of clonal hematopoiesis. Candidates should be independent and highly motivated with a strong background in genomic data analysis and/or biostatistics. The selected candidate will work on NIH-sponsored research that will include genome-wide analyses of epigenetic and transcriptomic data, and may include implementation of deep learning models and/or cell-type specific analyses depending on the interests of the candidate. The candidate will receive hands-on training in the design and interpretation of these analyses, will take the lead on first-authored publications resulting from this work, and will receive career development mentorship; this will include encouragement and support to submit fellowship and grant proposals and to travel and present their work at national conferences

Postdoctoral Fellowship in Cancer and Kidney Biology Hong Lab
Summary of the Fellowship:
The Hong Lab (www.thehonglab.org) is seeking highly-motivated postdoctoral fellows to join a team of scientists using functional genomics to study the development and consequences of abnormal development in the kidney, identify new biology and therapeutic targets in childhood and young adult kidney/brain cancers. These include Wilms Tumor and cancers involving the SWI/SNF chromatin modifying complex such as Renal Medullary Carcinoma, Rhabdoid Tumor and Atypical Teratoid/ Rhabdoid Tumor.
Our research laboratory is housed within the Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorders Center at Emory University and Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta in the Health Science Research Building. Fellows will have access to resources within the Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorders Center, the Winship Cancer Institute, the Pediatric Research Alliance along with collaborators at Georgia Institute of Technology. Furthermore, fellows are encouraged to observe the clinical aspects of pediatric oncology to understand the impact of our work on our patients.

Summary of the Mentor:
Dr. Hong is an Assistant Professor in Pediatrics with an Endowed Investigatorship focused on the study of high-risk childhood kidney and brain cancers. He was previously on the faculty at Harvard Medical School. He completed his post-graduate and post-doctoral training at Boston Children’s Hospital, the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and the Broad Institute of Harvard and MIT. His mentorship style is to meet weekly with postdoctoral fellows with the goal for the fellows to become independent investigators (either in academia or in industry). Reporting to the Director of the Library, the Online Learning Project Librarian (OLPL) is a key member of Pitts Theology Library’s Reference team. The OLPL provides in-person and virtual research and reference services and works closely with other team members to provide fully online and digital library instruction. This work includes physical presence at the reference desk, monitoring online reference inquiries, and conducting research consultations. The OLPL also works with the Reference and Instruction Librarian and members of the Office of Digital Learning to identify, create, promote, and facilitate digital library instruction for Candler School of Theology students, staff, and faculty. The OLPL also serves as an internal consultant for other librarians at Pitts and Emory on the best practices for extending library services to patrons who do not have physical access to library collections, spaces, and services.
As a member of the Pitts Reference, Instruction, and Outreach team, the OLPL creates digital learning objectives for distance and in-person learners; advocates for online library services and instruction by understanding, communicating, and employing best practices for online learning and online information literacy; and integrates library learning and information literacy into various digital access points like the LMS (Canvas) and orientation.

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT: Professor Yang Liu’s group is seeking two full-time postdoctoral research fellows to take part in a variety of federally funded projects to conduct large scale, long-term exposure modeling and assess the health impacts of climate change related environmental risk factors. Dr. Liu’s research interests include satellite aerosol retrieval and product design, applications of satellite remote sensing in exposure modeling and environmental epidemiological research, potential impacts of global climate change on public health, GIS, spatial statistics and machine learning. We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled physician to lead our nation's largest inpatient pediatric cardiology unit. As the director, you will be responsible for managing a diverse range of cardiac disease states, including acute and chronic conditions in pediatric patients. This will involve overseeing the care of medical patients with cardiovascular diseases, as well as pre-operative and post-operative pediatric cardiac surgical patients.
In addition to providing clinical care, you will play a vital role in establishing a strategic plan for our acute care unit. This will involve collaborating with other services, such as cardiac surgery, nursing, and respiratory therapy, to ensure the highest quality of care for our patients. We are looking for someone with a strong foundation in quality improvement and outcomes science, as this will be essential in driving continuous improvement in our unit.
As the director, you will also have the opportunity to mentor junior faculty and supervise a medical team of trainees, including pediatric residents and pediatric cardiology fellows. This position will require expertise in managing a high acuity non-intensive care unit, where you will be responsible for delivering various therapies, including vasoactive infusions, mechanical support, and noninvasive respiratory support. Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta is the largest pediatric referral center in the Southeast, with 550 pediatric beds, and 1,400 pediatric general and specialist healthcare providers. The pediatric cardiac program at Emory is one of the largest in the United States, performing over 800 cardiac surgeries each year. Emory has large pediatric residency and pediatric cardiology fellowship programs, with five categorical fellows per year in addition to advanced training programs in imaging, catheterization, electrophysiology, intensive care, and heart failure. Our cardiac program has been consistently ranked as a top program nationally in US News and World Report.
The cardiac program performs more than 40,000 transthoracic and 650 transesophageal echocardiograms annually. The fetal cardiac program has a broad referral base and performs more than 2,500 fetal echocardiograms per year. Echo research support is provided by the cardiac imaging research core (CIRC), which includes research coordinators and statistical support, as well as core lab facilities for both echo and MRI studies.

The division of Pediatric Cardiology at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta (CHOA) and Emory University School of Medicine is seeking a pediatric heart failure and transplant cardiologist to join our faculty and Advanced Cardiac Therapies team. The Advanced Cardiac Therapies program at CHOA provides innovative and comprehensive care for children and families affected by advanced heart failure and cardiomyopathy. Our program has performed over 400 heart transplants since inception in 1988 and continues to perform, on average, 16 heart transplants per year. Our mechanical circulatory support program includes multiple modalities.
As one of the busiest programs in the country, our program participates in many multi-center research studies well as participation in many important registries/databases.

The Itzhaki Lab, at Emory University School of Medicine, is a translational bedside-to-bench-to-bedside cardiac electrophysiology research laboratory that seeks to employ a Biomedical Engineering Postdoctoral Fellow specializing in one or more of the following areas: mathematical modeling of biological systems, microfluidics, and machine learning. The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary collaborative research environment focused on the development of drug screening platforms, with the intent of contributing to the derivation of new antiarrhythmic therapeutic options for the management of arrhythmia-susceptible congenital disease patients. This research will be supported by advanced technologies, including high-throughput multiparametric electrophysiology and calcium imaging recording systems, and disease- and patient-specific iPSC technology.
Minimum qualification: A Ph.D. or equivalent degree in Biomedical Engineering or another appropriately relevant engineering field; no more than 1 year of postdoctoral experience; strong scientific writing and oral communication skills; a demonstrated background in at least one of the following areas: mathematical modeling of biological systems, microfluidics, and machine learning. The Cardiomyocyte Stem Cell Laboratory at Emory University School of Medicine is seeking a
postdoctoral fellow to work on human induced pluripotent stem cells

The research is focused on differentiation and applications of cardiomyocytes from stem cells
and will be conducted in collaboration with investigators in Emory University,

The Orthopedics Department, Division of Sports Medicine at Emory University is recruiting a full-time, non-operative sports medicine physician to join the rapidly expanding Orthopedic and Sports Medicine service line. Candidates must have completed an ACGME Sports Medicine Fellowship and be board-eligible or certified in Sports Medicine. We will emphasize those candidates who are greater than 5 years out of their fellowship training with a specific clinical and research interest and/or training in Female Health/Woman’s Sports Medicine to help lead our Woman’s Sports Medicine Program but will consider all eligible applicants.
We seek motivated candidates to join a premier academic sports medicine program who would like to deliver highest level of clinical care, community-based programs, with a goal to be a leader regionally and/or nationally in respective fields of interest. The position will focus on the evaluation and management of non-operative musculoskeletal patient care, comprehensive management of the female athlete, with an emphasis on an active patient population. There will be support to develop innovative research and programmatic opportunities in Woman’s Sports Medicine, and other interest areas. High school coverage and community involvement will be required as well as the potential for collegiate and/or professional sports opportunities for this desirable position.
A commitment to high quality patient care as well as the teaching of medical students, residents, fellows, and other healthcare providers is required. There will be opportunities for advancement and academic leadership positions within the department. An interest in research is preferred. The Marcus laboratory at the Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University is searching for an applicant with expertise in cell biology and/or cancer biology. Our laboratory had developed a cell biology approach to extract genomic information from rare cancer cells, and apply this technique to study cancer metastasis and tumor heterogeneity (publications in Nature Communications, Science Advances, and Clinical Cancer Research). We are searching for a post-doctoral fellow with strong cell biology, biomedical engineering, and/or cancer biology experience. This can include experience in microscopy, 3-D cell culture studies, mechanistic biology, or in vivo animal studies. A main goal in the lab is to mentor and train the post-doctoral fellow for success by providing the leadership, writing, and experimental skills necessary to excel in a scientific career. The Marcus lab has had a strong track-record of success in pre-doctoral and post-doctoral training grants and would expect the applicant to apply for a training grant as the project develops.

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT: The Department of Hematology and Oncology within Emory University’s School of Medicine is seeking a postdoctoral fellow to join Dr. Madhav Dhodapkar’s lab. Dr. Dhodapkar serves as the director of the Winship Center for Cancer Immunology and leader of the Cancer Immunology Research Program at Winship Cancer Institute. The lab employs state-of-the-art molecular and cellular biology approaches, including single cell tools and mouse models to better understand and harness the immune system against myeloma. The ideal candidate will have familiarity with flow cytometry and other immunologic techniques. The person hired for this position will work closely with the Dhodapkar group to accelerate the pre-clinical work identifying immune mechanisms and treatments in multiple myeloma. Experience in cancer immunology, molecular biology, and working with mouse models and/or human samples will be prioritized.

The Orthopaedics Department at Emory University is recruiting an internal medicine physician experienced in perioperative medicine, to staff our new OPAC (Orthopaedic Preoperative Assessment Clinic) at the Emory University Orthopedic and Spine Hospital. Candidates will have completed and be board-eligible or certified in Internal Medicine.
This is a part-time position and clinical duties will focus on the triage, evaluation and management of preoperative musculoskeletal patients. Patient visits will be in person and virtual. The physician will also help oversee an APP who will help staff OPAC.
A commitment to quality patient care as well as robust communication with other consulting and primary healthcare providers is required. An interest in research is preferred. Strong clinical, administrative and interpersonal skills are necessary. The physician will also help in the development of perioperative protocols for patients undergoing surgery at EUOSH, alongside surgeons, hospitalists, and anesthesiologists. HEALTH SERVICE PSYCHOLOGY – CLINICAL HEALTH PSYCHOLOGIST
The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences is accepting applications for a Clinical Health Psychologist position, open academic rank. Applications will be reviewed beginning immediately and will be accepted and reviewed until the position is filled. The successful candidate will provide brief assessments, consults, and psychotherapy (individual, group, couple/family) for adults with medical and psychological concerns. Much of the work for this position will be completed in the Paul W. Seavey Comprehensive Internal Medicine Clinic and potentially other general medical clinics. The psychologist should have experience in treating psychological conditions such as anxiety and depression and assisting in the behavioral and psychosocial management of a range of medical diseases (e.g., diabetes, obesity, tobacco cessation) and related problems (e.g., pain, insomnia). There also will be a focus on helping people with lifestyle changes related to healthy eating, exercise, and substance use, as well as assisting people in coping with major life stresses. Teaching and supervising trainees is expected as part of the position.

Applicants should have a strong background in clinical health psychology and integrated care with medically ill populations. They must have a doctorate in clinical or counseling psychology from an APA accredited graduate program, an APA accredited internship, and at least one-year supervised postdoctoral training. The individual must be licensed or license eligible in Georgia. Board certification through the American Board of Professional Psychology is required within 7 years of starting this faculty position.
