We are looking for a motivated postdoctoral research associate to join Dr. Salamova’s lab in the Gangarosa Department of Environmental Health in the Rollins School of Public Health at Emory University. The candidate will work on various projects focused on environmental exposures to per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), disinfectants, flame retardants, and other environmental contaminants. The post-doc will be responsible for laboratory work, including applying liquid-chromatographic and gas chromatographic-mass spectrometry for the analysis of environmental and biological samples, statistical data analyses, manuscript writing, and attending scientific conferences. Other responsibilities may include assistance with general laboratory operations and student or staff supervision.   The minimum qualification is a Ph.D. in environmental or analytical chemistry, environmental health or toxicology, or any other field related to environmental science and/or health. The successful candidate should have demonstrated an ability to work independently and in a research group. We are working to innovate the mental health care system for children in Georgia and are recruiting dedicated and experienced team members who are eager to join this mission.   Children’s is seeking a Pediatric Psychologist with experience in weight management for children and adolescents with a focus on family-based care. This psychologist will be a member of the multidisciplinary team treating patients through our Strong4Life Clinic, a program for children, adolescents, and their families with excess adiposity and weight-related health issues. Our clinic offers both medical and surgical treatment options. The psychologist will be responsible for screening all patients for psychological disorders, conducting pre-surgical bariatric assessments, consultation, and weight management related intervention through our multidisciplinary clinic. In addition, there is the opportunity to carry a case load of outpatient psychotherapy patients. The ideal psychologist will have experience providing assessment and intervention for youth requiring treatment and support for weight management. In addition, the successful candidate will have experience with evidence-based assessment and treatment of behavioral health needs including diagnostic interviewing, behavioral and cognitive-behavioral interventions, working with families, school liaison, and multidisciplinary treatment models.   Psychologists work closely with multidisciplinary teams consisting of physicians specializing in pediatric obesity medicine and endocrinology, physician’s assistants, dieticians, exercise physiologists, nurses, and surgeons to develop and implement a comprehensive care plan for each patient. Faculty Position - Pediatric Translational Behavioral Neuroscience Research The Center for Behavioral and Mental Health at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta and the Children’s Center for Neurosciences Research at Emory University and Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta are jointly seeking a faculty member to advance a translational discovery agenda. Candidates must conduct research that is relevant to improving the care of infants and children who are at elevated risk for the development of neuropsychiatric disorders (on the basis of genetic, environmental or combined causal influences).  Physician-scientists are encouraged to apply, and an MD and/or PhD is required.   We seek candidates with research vision who can develop and lead a translational research agenda that studies behavior and mental health using approaches grounded in neuroscience. Ideal candidates will have technological experience in neuroscience and be prepared to harness these technologies to advance knowledge of causal mechanisms in brain and behavioral development and to define potential targets for higher-impact therapies for neuropsychiatric disorders of childhood. Areas of particular interest include in-depth studies of causation, tracing genetic, epigenetic, and/or environmental variation to the developmental processes that govern brain and behavioral maturation. Faculty Position – Child Mental Health Services Research   The Center for Behavioral and Mental Health at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta is seeking a faculty member at the Assistant, Associate, or Professor level to superimpose a program of discovery upon an evolving learning health system for child mental health.  The candidate would join an engaged group of clinicians, public health experts and informaticists to leverage risk, intervention, and outcomes data generated by the clinical activity rendered to a large prospective longitudinal cohort of children served by our Center.  Scientists with backgrounds in the fields of epidemiology, implementation science, public health, health services utilization, and clinical trials are appropriate for consideration of this position.  Physician-scientists are encouraged to apply, and an MD and/or PhD is required.   Long-term support for the Center’s clinical activity and informatics infrastructure have been established by a major endowment to subsidize clinical revenue losses for the delivery of state-of-the-art mental health care to a population-representative sample on the order of 10,000 unique child psychiatric outpatients each year. The utilization of the resource has been strategized such that prospective patients are drawn from specific clinico-epidemiologic populations (representing the developmental continuum of risk for severe, life-course-persistent mental health impairment) and naturally comprise a quasi-randomized intervention cohort reflecting the impact of system transformation for the clinical mental health care of children, involving a racial- and ethnically-representative population of children, greater than 65% of whom are governmentally insured.
