Marshall, MD Chair and Scientific Director of Genito-urinary (GU) Oncology in Emory’s Winship Cancer Institute.   The Fray F. Marshall, MD Chair is supported by a substantial endowment honoring Dr. Fray Marshall, esteemed leader in urological oncology who was the inaugural chairman of the Emory Department of Urology from 1998 until his untimely passing in December 2011. Dr. Marshall’s intent was for this endowment to support a leader in translational urological oncology research.  Accordingly, the Search Committee is seeking candidates who demonstrate:   - The capability to lead a translational research program that aims to transform our understanding of cancer biology and to enable new approaches for prevention, detection or treatment of prostate cancer or other urological malignancies. - A track-record of scientific discovery and accomplishment relevant[hf1]  to cancer, prostate cancer, or other urological cancers. - Eligibility for academic appointment as Professor or Associate Professor with tenure at Emory University School of Medicine. - Established excellence in mentorship of trainees or junior faculty. - Ongoing leadership of contemporary scientific investigation and innovation.   Appointment of this position is accompanied by recent and ongoing expansion of Winship Cancer Institute’s research in prostate cancer and Emory’s Department of Urology including the addition of 9 urology faculty over the past 3 years under the leadership of the current Chair of Urology Martin G. Sanda, MD, resulting in doubling of the department’s research funding and major increase in philanthropic and endowment funds and raising Emory Urology’s clinical volume to among the top academic urology programs nationwide. Marcus Autism Center is one of the largest and most comprehensive centers of clinical care for children and adolescents with autism spectrum disorders in the country, with over 5,000 unique children and families served every year in a wide range of assessment and treatment programs. The Division of Neurology includes over twenty neurologists specializing in both rare and common neurological conditions. The confluence of structures and resources available through these highly interconnected clinical and research organizations support professional growth and development, help to build innovative models of neurological care, maximize inter-professional relationships, and leverage cutting-edge translational science to improve treatments.   Marcus Autism Center is one of only three NIH Autism Centers of Excellence, with a research enterprise encompassing unique studies in genetics, behavioral neuroscience, social neuroscience, and clinical science, as well as a robust portfolio of community outreach programs and collaborative contracts with governmental agencies. The Center is a national leader in innovative clinical service delivery, clinical research, and professional training.   Our Pediatric Neurologist will focus on providing clinical care, but will also have opportunities to support research and to provide supervision of allied clinicians and clinical training for students.  As part of an interdisciplinary team this provider contributes to medical and developmental evaluations as well as follow-up care on an outpatient basis. A Pediatric Neurologist supports and enhances the mission of the Division and Children's by providing high quality patient care in an effective and efficient manner.   I.Clinical Service: Provides patient care which complies with the Professional Staff Bylaws, rules and regulations and Children's policies and procedures. Participates in and incorporates Quality Improvement and research findings into practice. Provides and/or serves as a resource for patient/family and staff education. Provides an authenticated report of all physician services rendered and maintains accurate and complete records in an acceptable manner. Completes necessary documentation and ensures communication in a timely manner to facilitate patient care and appropriate reimbursement. Provides supervision as appropriate to allied health providers and/or nursing support staff in the clinical area   II.Research: Actively support research activities underway in the Division.Seek additional opportunities to support and lead research efforts as time and interest allow   III.Teaching: Provides direct supervision for trainees, ensuring adequate opportunities for training through teaching, patient contact, case review and research.   IV. Administrative: Participates in meetings/activities as required to support operations of the clinical area. Participates in activities that enhance professional development. Completes and maintains any additional specialty training/certifications as required by the assigned area. Participate in the development of goals for the department including research, quality and customer service initiatives.-Board certified and licensed to practice medicine in the state of Georgia. Current DEA registration Meets eligibility requirements for credentialing as part of the Children's Healthcare of Atlanta Professional Staff.   BLS certification required. The Emory University School of Medicine Department of Neurology, as part of the Emory Brain Health Center, invites applications, at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor, for the position of Director and Division Chief of the Emory Epilepsy Program.  We seek an outstanding and visionary leader with experience in clinical or basic research, clinical epilepsy, and education, as well as dedication to epilepsy and to neurological care for underserved populations. The Director will oversee clinical, research and educational missions, reporting directly to the Chair of Neurology.  The Emory Epilepsy Program is an NAEC-accredited Level 4 epilepsy center. Our program is particularly strong in epilepsy surgery (including the largest series of laser ablation patients in the country), neurostimulation, intensive care EEG monitoring, neurpsychology, and epidemiology. The Program faculty is comprised of 12 fellowship-trained neurologists and three epilepsy neuropsychologists. We work closely with two epilepsy neurosurgeons, 7 pediatric epileptologists, and a strong array of basic scientists. A recently-completed strategic plan for the Epilepsy Program calls for significant increased resources and integration with all epilepsy-related activities within the University. The Director will coordinate and develop all epilepsy and EEG services at Emory’s 4 primary teaching hospitals: Emory University Hospital, EUH Midtown, Grady Memorial Hospital, and the Atlanta VA Medical Center, as well as epilepsy care for patients throughout the Emory Healthcare network.  Epilepsy research at Emory is currently supported by over $15 million dollars in research funding ranging from genetics, proteomics, basic electrophysiology, behavioral studies, and non-human primate work to clinical studies, outcomes research and epidemiology. Our educational mission includes training of 8 fellows in ACGME-accredited clinical neurophysiology and epilepsy programs, 32 Emory neurology residents, medical students, patients and community caregivers.   Please include three letters of reference.
