The Searles lab is broadly focused on posttranscriptional mechanisms responsible for regulation of vascular gene expression and development of cardiovascular disease. We are looking for a post doctoral trainee to work on a project that will investigate human blood transcriptomics as an applied genomics approach to enhance clinical investigations. This project is part of a collaboration between Emory, Morehouse School of Medicine, and Georgia Tech that is focused on enhancing training in translational genomics. Candidates should have experience working with blood samples, RNA isolation techniques, and analysis RNA sequencing data. Marcus Autism Center, Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta and Emory University Department of Pediatrics are conducting a search for a doctoral-level clinician (i.e., psychologist or BCBA-D) with specialization in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and early treatment of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in children to provide clinical care and to support the growth of our ABA Therapy Program.   This position primarily focuses on providing clinical care, as well as clinical case management and supervision of Master’s-level Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) providing intervention to children targeting core deficits of autism. Children seen in the program receive 1:1 intervention delivered by Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) for 3 hours/day, 5 days/week in a clinic setting. The program emphasizes early and focused treatment targeting social communication and play skills, strives to ensure children are ready to move to a less-intensive setting by discharge, and heavily involves caregivers in their child’s intervention. The ABA Therapy program relies on the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis to inform treatment strategies, and utilizes a developmentally-appropriate approach to targeting skill deficits. The program also has several active ongoing research projects investigating the most effective and efficient ways to target core deficits of ASD. In the past year, the program has expanded beyond the Atlanta location to establish locations in both Cumming and Sandy Springs and has plans for continued growth. We are seeking individuals who are interested in joining a dedicated team of professionals seeking to provide the highest quality care to children with ASD. Postdoctoral positions are available Dr. Candace Floyd’s Brain and Spinal Cord Injury Research Laboratory in the Department of Emergency Medicine and  the affiliated Emory Neurotrauma Translational Research center at Grady (ENTiRe at Grady).  We seek to recruit and train highly qualified and motivated postdoctoral fellows in neurotrauma research and/or neuropathic pain research. The training program will emphasize the use of translational porcine preclinical research models of traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, and neuropathic pain to fill important gaps in knowledge and accelerate advancement of therapeutics. Clinical-relevance to all research is emphasized by regular interactions with neurotrauma and neuropathic pain clinical practitioners as well as lived-experience consultants. About the Liotta Research Group:   The Liotta Research Group (LRG) is an Emory-based medicinal chemistry and drug discovery research group, led by Dr. Dennis Liotta. Our focus is the discovery and development of novel therapeutic agents. The drugs, generated by the LRG over several decades, include therapies for HIV, hepatitis B (HBV), cancer and neurological disorders, to name a few. In addition to our ongoing programs in antivirals and prodrug platform technologies, our current efforts include designing and developing novel non-opioid analgesics, anti-anxiolytics, NMDA receptor modulators, chemotherapeutics and immuno-oncology agents.   The Role: We are seeking highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellows for our medicinal and synthetic chemistry group. They are expected to perform duties with a high degree of independence, initiative and judgment. The project(s) will focus on the design and synthesis, followed by in vitro and in vivo profiling, of novel therapeutic agents and then the optimization of synthetic processes to prepare such compounds to meet key development objectives and milestones.
