The Cardiomyocyte Stem Cell Laboratory at Emory University School of Medicine is seeking a postdoctoral fellow to work on human induced pluripotent stem cells (http://www.pedsresearch.org/research-group/chunhui-xu-lab). The research is focused on differentiation and applications of cardiomyocytes from stem cells and will be conducted in collaboration with investigators in Emory University, Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, and Georgia Tech. The candidate should have a recent Ph.D. preferably in Cell Biology or related disciplines with strong cellular and molecular biology expertise including cell culture, immunocytochemistry, flow cytometry, qRT-PCR, and genetic modification of cells.   Job Description   The Orthopedics Department, Division of Sports Medicine at Emory University is recruiting a full-time, non-operative sports medicine physician to join the rapidly expanding Orthopedic and Sports Medicine service line.  Candidates must have completed an ACGME Sports Medicine Fellowship and be board-eligible or certified in Sports Medicine. We will emphasize those candidates who are greater than 5 years out of their fellowship training with a specific clinical and research interest and/or training in Female Health/Woman’s Sports Medicine to help lead our Woman’s Sports Medicine Program but will consider all eligible applicants.   We seek motivated candidates to join a premier academic sports medicine program who would like to deliver highest level of clinical care, community-based programs, with a goal to be a leader regionally and/or nationally in respective fields of interest.  The position will focus on the evaluation and management of non-operative musculoskeletal patient care, comprehensive management of the female athlete, with an emphasis on an active patient population.  There will be support to develop innovative research and programmatic opportunities in Woman’s Sports Medicine, and other interest areas.  High school coverage and community involvement will be required as well as the potential for collegiate and/or professional sports opportunities for this desirable position.    A commitment to high quality patient care as well as the teaching of medical students, residents, fellows, and other healthcare providers is required.  There will be opportunities for advancement and academic leadership positions within the department. The Marcus laboratory at the Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University is searching for an applicant with expertise in cell biology and/or cancer biology. Our laboratory had developed a cell biology approach to extract genomic information from rare cancer cells, and apply this technique to study cancer metastasis and tumor heterogeneity (publications in Nature Communications, Science Advances, and Clinical Cancer Research). We are searching for a post-doctoral fellow with strong cell biology, biomedical engineering, and/or cancer biology experience. This can include experience in microscopy, 3-D cell culture studies, mechanistic biology, or in vivo animal studies. The Department of Surgery of Emory University at Grady Memorial Hospital, Atlanta, Georgia, is actively seeking two qualified academic Burn Surgeons to join a busy American Burn Association verified Adult and Pediatric Burn Unit at Grady Memorial Hospital.  The entire burn team participates actively in multi-specialty research endeavors and many are generously supported with funds for conference presentation and attendance.   Grady’s Burn Unit admits over 700 patients a year, including adult and pediatric patients, in a contemporary facility that provides comprehensive burn care.  We are a multidisciplinary team of physicians, physician assistants, Emory and Morehouse general and plastic surgery residents, nurses, pharmacists, physical therapists and other ancillary staff. It is the only burn center in Georgia backed by a Level I Trauma Center (the Trauma Center admits about 4500 patients a year). The Heart Center at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, Emory University School of Medicine, is seeking to expand our Cardiac ICU faculty by adding two pediatric cardiac intensivists to join our team of 13 cardiac intensivists at the assistant or associate professor level. The candidate will join the division of Pediatric Cardiology of Emory University School of Medicine, with more than 50 faculty members led by Dr. William Mahle and Dr. Paul Chai.   Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta is the largest pediatric referral center in the Southeast, with 550 pediatric beds, and 1,400 pediatric general and specialist healthcare providers. The pediatric cardiac program at Emory is one of the largest in the United States, performing more than 800 cardiac surgeries each year.   The dedicated Cardiac ICU is a 32-bed unit with over 1000 annual admissions and is complemented by a cardiac step-down unit with an additional 35 beds. The Cardiac ICU will expand to 36 beds in September 2024 when we will be moving into a brand new facility, The Arthur M Blank Children’s Hospital. The division of pediatric cardiology provides cardiac care for the vast majority of the children in the state of Georgia, with a catchment population of approximately 10 million. The heart transplant program, one of the busiest in the nation, has performed over 350 pediatric heart transplants to date, and is an important component of the ICU that includes a busy heart failure and VAD service.   The cardiac research enterprise includes clinical research, a cardiac outcomes center, and basic science research. Pediatric cardiac device development and use of innovative technologies occurs through our research partnership with Georgia Institute of Technology and Emory University.   Candidates should have completed training and be BC/BE in pediatric cardiology, or pediatric critical care with additional training completed in pediatric cardiac intensive care, or dual Cardiology/Critical Care training. The Department of Radiation Oncology of the Emory University School of Medicine is recruiting for two physicians at the Instructor, Assistant, Associate or Professor level for positions at our large new Winship Tower recently opened in Midtown Atlanta to deliver multidisciplinary oncology care. Candidates for the position should have completed an accredited residency and be Board Certified or in the process of becoming Board Certified in Radiation Oncology through the American Board of Radiology. This will enable a single campus in the heart of Atlanta for outpatient and inpatient specialty care, endoscopy, liver transplant, and research coordination.   We are seeking applicants with experience and interests in:      - General Gastroenterology - Intestinal Rehabilitation, Multi-Visceral Transplant and Nutrition - Eosinophilic Gastrointestinal Disorders   The position includes both inpatient and outpatient care, as well as teaching colleagues, fellows, residents, and medical students.  The Division is actively engaged in a wide variety of clinical/research programs including: aerodigestive, eosinophilic GI diseases, IBD, intestinal rehabilitation, weight/wellness, feeding, autism, fatty liver disease, cholestatic and genetic liver diseases, biliary atresia, endoscopy/advanced endoscopy, pancreatic disorders, and liver transplant.    The Division includes 18 clinical faculty, 2 Clinical Psychologists, and 6 research PhDs. Emory’s Department of Radiation Oncology serves multiple clinical institutions in the Atlanta metropolitan area, including Emory University Hospital Clifton, Winship Cancer Institute at Emory Midtown, Emory Proton Therapy Center, Emory Saint Joseph’s Hospital, Grady Hospital, and Emory Decatur Hospital. It is an integral part of Winship, a National Cancer Institute-Designated Comprehensive Cancer Center. The newest practice sites include the Emory Proton Therapy Center, which opened in late 2018 and offers pencil beam scanning, and the new Winship Cancer Institute at Emory Midtown facility which offers a unique setting of multidisciplinary care delivery. The department treats over 4,000 patients annually. The Postdoctoral fellow will also develop new ideas that promote current research and prepare and publish scientific manuscripts under the direction of the Principal Investigator. May be responsible for operation of specific computational equipment. Positions are temporary appointments as a research trainee. The Postdoctoral Fellow receives training under close supervision of faculty in the Emory University, School of Medicine, Department of Biomedical Engineering.   Interested candidates should ideally have a background in artificial intelligence/computer vision/machine learning programming, ideally with either Python or MATLAB.
