A postdoctoral fellow position is available in the Surgical Oncology NanoMedicine Research Lab of the Department of Surgery at Emory University School of Medicine. Dr. Lily Yang, Professor and Nancy Panoz Chair of Surgery in Cancer Research, is leading the translational research laboratory to develop multifunctional nanoparticles for targeted drug delivery, overcoming tumor stroma delivery and biological barriers, and activation of tumor specific immune responses for targeted cancer chemo-immunotherapy. Current translational research projects, supported by NIH grant awards, include targeted magnetic iron oxide nanoparticles for chemo-immunotherapy of pancreatic cancer, stroma penetrating hyaluronic acid nanoparticle carrying cancer therapy agents for targeted cancer therapy, immunoactivating nanoparticles for the treatment of cancer patients with comorbid atherosclerosis, and targeted CAR T cell therapy. This postdoctoral fellow will be working with a collaborative research team to conduct multidisciplinary research activities that involve in nanoparticle development and preclinical studies, aimed at the clinical translation for cancer therapy. This candidate will receive training in independent study designing, carrying out in vitro and in vivo experiments, result summary, data analysis and report, and preparing manuscripts for publications and research grant applications.

About the Liotta Research Group:
The Liotta Research Group (LRG) is an Emory-based medicinal chemistry and drug discovery research group, led by Dr. Dennis Liotta. Our focus is the discovery and development of novel therapeutic agents. The drugs, generated by the LRG over several decades, include therapies for HIV, hepatitis B (HBV), cancer and neurological disorders, to name a few. In addition to our ongoing programs in antivirals and prodrug platform technologies, our current efforts include designing and developing novel non-opioid analgesics, anti-anxiolytics, NMDA receptor modulators, chemotherapeutics and immuno-oncology agents.
The Role:
We are seeking highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellows for our medicinal and synthetic chemistry group. They are expected to perform duties with a high degree of independence, initiative and judgment. The project(s) will focus on the design and synthesis, followed by in vitro and in vivo profiling, of novel therapeutic agents and then the optimization of synthetic processes to prepare such compounds to meet key development objectives and milestones. Furthermore, interested individuals must also be motivated to prepare key research results and findings for peer-review publications, oral presentations and patent applications. A successful applicant will join our multidisciplinary research group working on fully integrated activities for the discovery and development of novel therapeutic agents.
A Ph.D. in synthetic organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry or related fields is required. The Department of Radiation Oncology of the Emory University School of Medicine is recruiting a Vice Chair and Division Chief for the Division of Medical Physics at the Assistant, Associate or Professor level to lead the clinical, research, and teaching services for this large, complex, and esteemed Division.
The successful candidate will demonstrate an ability to lead at the highest levels in both the academic and clinical operational aspects of the mission, including personal scholarly contributions that have led to academic distinction and impact, as well as experience with complex clinical operations. A demonstrated commitment to education and to elevating the quality and equity of care delivery are essential.
Candidates must have a PhD, or equivalent doctoral degree. ABR board certification in therapeutic radiological physics is expected. The candidate is expected to grow and support clinical services at multiple large sites, including a major proton center; education of medical physicist residents and medical residents; and the conduct of clinical and translational research with extramural funding support.
As a key administrative leader, the Vice Chair of Medical Physics is a vital member of the Department of Radiation Oncology’s Senior Leadership committee. The successful candidate will utilize their abilities to recruit and retain the highest caliber medical physicist faculty to support the clinical, educational and research missions of the Department.
The Department of Radiation Oncology has a tripartite mission of providing outstanding patient and family-centered medical care, educating the next generation of cancer caregivers and researchers, and executing paradigm-defining cancer research. The department is growing in all three areas, is ranked 15th in NIH funding among U.S. radiation oncology departments, and currently has 56 faculty distributed among Divisions of Clinical Affairs, Cancer Biology and Medical Physics. Faculty members are nationally recognized for subspecialty care in areas including pediatric oncology, brain tumors, head and neck cancer, lymphoma, breast, genitourinary, and lung cancer. The department operates seven sites of care in the Atlanta area, including the Emory Proton Therapy center, and the new Winship Tower at Midtown opening in May 2023. With over 400,000 square feet of care space, the Winship Tower at Midtown will be centered on dedicated disease site-specific patient care communities, including 80 inpatient beds, 6 operating rooms, full imaging services, infusion, pharmacy and lab.
The department treats nearly 4,200 patients annually. Highlights of the technology offered include 9 Varian linear accelerators, 2 Elekta linear accelerators, Gamma Knife, Zeiss IntraBeam intraoperative unit, multiple brachytherapy HDR afterloader units, big bore CT scanners with 4D capabilities, MRI for simulation and access PET scanners. All linear accelerators are IGRT (2D, 3D) and respiratory motion management equipped. The Emory Proton Center houses a Varian ProBeam supporting 5 gantries. The oncology information system utilizes ARIA® with treatment planning systems to include Eclipse and RayStation.
Educational offerings overseen by the Vice Chair/Division Chief include the fully accredited three-year training program for medical physics residents, as well as physics training components of a four-year training program for radiation oncology residents. The Division also developed and maintains a University Certificate Program in Medical Physics as a two-year CAMPEP-accredited didactic training program. Emory physics faculty also participate in Georgia Institute of Technology’s medical physics education and research programs.
The Medical Physics Division has a successful research program and has multiple investigators funded by NIH and DoD in image-guided radiotherapy, applications of artificial intelligence, novel applications of proton radiotherapy, and numerous productive collaborations with clinical and biology faculty within the department and beyond. ACADEMIC ADDICTION PSYCHIATRIST

The Emory Addiction Center, part of the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Emory University School of Medicine is seeking a full-time Addiction Psychiatrist to join its outpatient faculty. This position will offer the opportunity to participate in clinical care and education. Support staff for scheduling and case management will be provided.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Clinical outpatient addiction care, teaching and collaboration are priorities for this position. Research or related-funds can offset the percent time for any of these activities. All faculty are encouraged to supervise residents and fellows. Proportional call is an expected clinical responsibility with cross coverage availability for vacations and conferences. Office space will be provided at the newly renovated Emory Addiction Center, which includes on-site parking, as well as lab and urine drug screen testing. Successful candidates will work within a multidisciplinary treatment team with expertise in addictions. Services including scheduling and intake coordination will be provided. The position also allows for CME time with monetary allowance, relocation, and an advantageous retirement plan.
QUALIFICATIONS
The rank of the appointment is open and will be commensurate with the experience and professional accomplishments of the selected applicants. Applicants should hold an unrestricted license for the state of Georgia and be board certified in Psychiatry. The candidate must be board eligible in Addiction Psychiatry. Obtaining board certification will be a requirement for retention. Consistent with the current vision and mission of the department and the division, preference will be given to applicants who have a combined and integrated interest in clinical, research, and teaching activities. Appointment at any level beyond Assistant Professor will require a successful record of external funding to support research activities, administrative experience, and an active publication record of accomplished research.
