The Department of Radiology and Imaging Sciences, Division of Musculoskeletal Imaging is offering a one-year fellowship in diagnostic and procedural orthopedic imaging which emphasizes clinical service, resident teaching, and scholarly activity.   The division is comprised of experienced and highly skilled faculty members who provide orthopedic imaging interpretation and consultation for the Atlanta Falcons, Atlanta Hawks, Atlanta Braves, Atlanta Dream, Georgia Tech, Emory University collegiate athletes, and for high school and recreational athletes around the area.   The fellowship program emphasizes continuing education and strongly encourages participation in scholarly endeavors. The fellowship program offers protected research time to fellows with approved scholarly projects. All fellows will participate in weekly case conferences and recurring multidisciplinary conferences (sarcoma, peripheral nerve, sports arthroscopy/MR correlation, and foot and ankle), in addition to spending time teaching residents.   The division provides diagnostic and procedural ultrasound services for the departments of Rheumatology and Orthopaedics and its Division of Sports Medicine, and the Peripheral Nerve Clinic. We also have a growing MR neurography service.   We strive to prepare individuals for an academic or subspecialized private practice career. The fellowship program provides training in radiography, CT, MR, and ultrasound imaging interpretation of bone, joint, soft tissue, and spine pathology. There will be a significant number of image-guided procedures performed including image-guided joint injections, peripheral nerve blocks, joint aspirations, and biopsies of the spine, tumors of bone and soft tissue. Image guidance is performed using CT, ultrasound, and fluoroscopy. At Grady Hospital, a Level I trauma center, there is a significant emphasis on musculoskeletal-related trauma care that fellows may take part in.   Our department works closely with the robust orthopedic oncology practice at Emory and participates in the weekly multidisciplinary sarcoma conference. There are periodic multidisciplinary conferences related to sports medicine and peripheral neuropathy. Fellows will interpret images acquired on various state-of-the-art CT units. Those units include the new, low-dose Carestream Cone Beam CT that allows for 3D imaging and weight-bearing studies with walk-in entry, the 1.5T and 3T MRI units and the Siemens Magnetom Skyra 3T MR imager for 3D imaging of joints and the spine. The Department of Radiology and Imaging Sciences at Emory University School of Medicine offers a one-year fellowship in Emergency and Trauma Imaging. There are five fellows per year. There are currently fellowship openings for 2024-2025 and 2025-2026.   Emory University Healthcare provides emergency services to over 250,000 patients annually. Emory University, School of Medicine, Department of Radiology and Imaging Sciences is offering a full-time one year Cardiothoracic Imaging Fellowship. Fellows will gain experience in chest radiography, chest CT, CT/MR vascular imaging, cardiac MR and cardiac CT. Rotations will take place at several Emory University Hospitals and Grady Memorial Hospital. Fellows will be exposed to a diverse patient population with exposure to interstitial lung disease, lung transplantation, advanced cardiothoracic surgery, trauma and indigent care. The Division of Cardiothoracic Imaging has various weekly/monthly clinical conferences and has a close working relationship with cardiology, pulmonary medicine, vascular surgery and cardiothoracic surgery services. Emory Healthcare is continuously upgrading with state-of-the-art equipment, including Siemens dual source Force, General Electric Revolution Apex, Canon Aquilion One and multiple of the Siemens, GE, Philips top CT scanners; on the MR side, Emory equipment include state-of-the-art systems such as Siemens 1.5-T Magnetom Altea, Magnetom Sola and Avanto, and 3-T Trio MRI scanners. Emory Healthcare systems include also a GE Signa PET/MR and Siemens 7T Terra system, both for clinical and research purposes.   Excellent research and teaching opportunities are available for the fellows. Emory University, School of Medicine, and affiliated hospitals have position openings in our Breast Imaging fellowship for July 2025. We follow the revised curriculum of the American College of Radiology/Society of Breast Imaging. As imaging is the foundation for a multidisciplinary approach to breast care, fellows will be integrated into the Emory Breast Health Care Team, which includes breast surgeons, medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, breast pathologists, and an array of nurse navigators, nurses, nurse practitioners, technologists, and support staff. For all involved, empathetic, evidence-based patient care and interaction are emphasized and practiced. Breast imaging fellows will actively participate in weekly multidisciplinary breast conferences at all hospitals where they rotate, interpret screenings and diagnostic mammograms, including digital tomosynthesis, perform and interpret breast ultrasound exams and interpret breast MRIs. Breast Imaging fellows will attain proficiency in breast interventional procedures including all forms of pre-operative localization, ultrasound-guided biopsy, MRI-guided breast biopsy, stereotactic biopsy (prone and upright units), and abscess drainage.    Digital mammography with tomosynthesis is used at all Emory Breast Imaging Centers. Other equipment includes upright and prone stereotactic biopsy tables, DBT-guided biopsy, an array of vacuum-assisted and automated breast biopsy devices, and ultrasound with elastography capability. Radioactive seed and radiofrequency marker placement are being employed at the Emory Breast Imaging Centers. The breast fellowship also involves teaching medical students and residents. Emory University School of Medicine, Department of Radiology and Imaging Sciences is offering a full-time one year Abdominal Imaging Fellowship that involves a combination of supervised, and independent patient evaluation and management, progressively complex imaging interpretation, and formal educational activities. A postdoctoral position is available in The Emory Brain Tumor Immunotherapy Laboratory, led by Dr. Edjah Nduom.   The Emory Brain Tumor Immunotherapy Laboratory attempts to harness the power of the immune system to fight brain tumors. Their work spans from the bedside to the bench and back. They focus on discovering new information about the immune biology of brain tumors, validate this information in the lab, and then use this knowledge to treat patients in clinical trials.   The group is currently recruiting a post-doctoral scientist whose training and goals overlap with the interests of its members, broadly in the areas of : 1) Molecular biology and the characterization of non-coding RNAs. 2) Immunology, particularly in the regulation of myeloid cells. 3) Immune-competent brain tumor models and immune therapy (in vitro and in vivo models). The specific project(s) the successful applicant will be working on involves a combination of the above features, i.e. evaluating the differences in non-coding RNA expression in glioblastoma patient immune cells, then targeting selected immune-modulating non-coding RNAs, in vitro and in vivo. The successful applicant will have completed a PhD in neuroscience, immunology, genetics, or related areas. Background in molecular biology with hands-on experience with CRISPR is preferred. Extra consideration will be given to applicants with experience in small animal survival surgery including intracerebral injections and flow cytometry. Tangible evidence of working in a collaborative environment where scientists overlap with clinicians and technology development will be highly valued.   The successful applicant will be given sufficient research support to ensure success, commensurate with needs detailed in a submitted budget. It is expected that the postdoctoral fellow will develop independent grant applications, in collaboration with other program faculty.
