  Children's Healthcare of Atlanta and Emory Department of Pediatrics are seeking a Clinical Psychologist with experience in treating mood dysregulation in children and teens. Children’s Behavioral and Mental Health Center is undergoing rapid growth and transformation. We are working to innovate the mental health care system for children in Georgia and are recruiting dedicated and experienced team members who are eager to join this mission.    The psychologist will work within the Children’s general outpatient clinic as well as within an acute Bridge Clinic. The Bridge Clinic provides rapid access outpatient care via interdisciplinary treatment team to meet the acute mental health needs of children and teens who have recently sought acute/urgent care for their symptoms. The Bridge Clinic aims to provide short-term pharmacotherapy, individual psychotherapy, group psychotherapy, parent training, and case management for patients recently discharged from an acute psychiatric care setting (emergency department or inpatient psychiatric unit) or Children’s inpatient team. Appointments are a mixture of in-person and telehealth. Psychologists work closely with child and adolescent psychiatrists, psychiatric mental health nurse practitioners, behavioral and mental health therapists (LCSWs and LPCs), and nurse case managers to develop and implement a comprehensive care plan for each patient. Psychologists participate in the training of psychology doctoral interns and postdoctoral fellows as well other behavioral mental health trainees. Marcus Autism Center is conducting a search for a doctoral-level clinician with specialization in Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorder for medically complex children and children with autism. This position primarily focuses on providing clinical care, as well as clinical case management and supervision of post-doctoral students, interns, and staff providing a range of interventions, in intensive day treatment and outpatient programs. Children seen in the program receive 1:1 intervention delivered by Feeding Techs and Specialists in a clinic setting. We invite applications for a faculty position in the Laboratory of Biochemical Pharmacology under the leadership of Dr. Raymond F. Schinazi, within the Center for Viroscience and Cure (CVC) in the Department of Pediatrics, School of Medicine, Emory University (Atlanta, GA).   The mission of CVC is to improve the lives of the many who are battling acute, chronic and difficult-to-treat virus infections through the discovery and development of novel, effective and safe antiviral small molecule inhibitors. To achieve this mission, we perform cutting-edge basic science research to identify novel viral targets, host-virus interactions, mechanisms of drug action, and mechanisms of drug resistance. Set in a highly multi-disciplinary environment, we employ innovative research tools in the areas of medicinal chemistry, structural and molecular biology, enzymology, virology, and cellular pharmacology to address current gaps and challenges in therapeutic drug development against viral agents such as SARS-CoV-2, HIV, HBV, HCV, enteroviridae, influenza, RSV, dengue, zika, ebola, chikungunya and other emerging viruses. Other areas of focus include chronic liver disease, cancer and opportunistic parasitic and bacterial infections. We also develop high-throughput cell-based and cell-free technologies and research tools that are a critical component of the drug discovery process. Children’s Behavioral and Mental Health Center is undergoing rapid growth and transformation. We are working to innovate the mental health care system for children in Georgia and are recruiting dedicated and experienced team members who are eager to join this mission.   Children’s is seeking a Pediatric Psychologist with experience in weight management for children and adolescents with a focus on family-based care. This psychologist will be a member of the multidisciplinary team treating patients through our Strong4Life Clinic, a program for children, adolescents, and their families with excess adiposity and weight-related health issues. Our clinic offers both medical and surgical treatment options. The psychologist will be responsible for screening all patients for psychological disorders, conducting pre-surgical bariatric assessments, consultation, and weight management related intervention through our multidisciplinary clinic. In addition, there is the opportunity to carry a case load of outpatient psychotherapy patients. The ideal psychologist will have experience providing assessment and intervention for youth requiring treatment and support for weight management. Faculty Position - Pediatric Translational Behavioral Neuroscience Research The Center for Behavioral and Mental Health at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta and the Children’s Center for Neurosciences Research at Emory University and Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta are jointly seeking a faculty member to advance a translational discovery agenda. Candidates must conduct research that is relevant to improving the care of infants and children who are at elevated risk for the development of neuropsychiatric disorders (on the basis of genetic, environmental or combined causal influences).  Physician-scientists are encouraged to apply, and an MD and/or PhD is required.   We seek candidates with research vision who can develop and lead a translational research agenda that studies behavior and mental health using approaches grounded in neuroscience. Ideal candidates will have technological experience in neuroscience and be prepared to harness these technologies to advance knowledge of causal mechanisms in brain and behavioral development and to define potential targets for higher-impact therapies for neuropsychiatric disorders of childhood. Areas of particular interest include in-depth studies of causation, tracing genetic, epigenetic, and/or environmental variation to the developmental processes that govern brain and behavioral maturation. We encourage approaches that involve translatable model systems or innovative clinical trials and that capitalize on strategic collections of biomaterials, brain imaging or behavioral data from developing children. Marcus Autism Center, Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, and Emory University School of Medicine are conducting a search for an outstanding psychologist with specialization in pediatric psychology to provide clinical care and support in the Severe Behavior Program.  Specifically, we are seeking a psychologist who will join our team of psychologists and BCBA-Ds in the Severe Behavior Program serving children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder or a related developmental disability. We are seeking applicants who will work in both the Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) and Outpatient Programs (OP).  IOP provides behavioral intervention to children who engage in severe challenging behavior. Children seen in IOP attend 5-days/week, 5 hours/day for an average of 16 weeks. Each child is staffed at a 3:1 ratio, allowing for a high level of precision in the behavioral assessments and treatments conducted. The program also emphasizes caregiver training and development of socially valid interventions. A range of outpatient programs provide care to children who engage in mild to moderate challenging behavior. OP see patients once a week and focuses on caregiver training. Most OP services are provided for 12 weeks, but can be longer or shorter depending on how the child responds to treatment.  We are looking for individuals who are interested in providing a high level of clinical care and who are interested in contributing to innovative assessment, treatment, and research activities.   The psychologist will join a multidisciplinary treatment team that includes professionals from nursing, psychiatry and care coordination. Intervention focuses on the use of applied behavior analysis for the assessment and treatment of severe behavior problems. This position will support a clinical caseload that includes case management for patients in IOP, conducting evaluations, providing direct services through our outpatient clinics and supervision of psychology trainees. There will also be opportunities for independent and/or collaborative research – contributing to a research team that has several ongoing clinical trials, epidemiological studies, and single-case design studies underway.   Successful candidates will be well-trained and should possess a PhD and be a Board Certified Behavior Analyst-Doctoral level (BCBA-D). Completion of an APA- or CPA-accredited doctoral program in psychology, completion of an APA-accredited internship, and completion of postdoctoral fellowship is preferred. Ideal candidates will have clinical training/background in applied behavior analysis and psychology with experience in the assessment and treatment of severe problem behaviors in children with developmental disabilities. This position will also be in conjunction with the Winship Cancer Institute, an NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center at Emory University. Candidates will be expected to qualify for membership in the Cancer Prevention and Control research program, one of four research programs in the cancer center (www.winshipcancer.emory.edu), with members conducting research in cancer epidemiology, biomarkers, and chemoprevention; health behavior research; symptom management and control; and health outcomes and quality of care.   Requirements: Candidates would require a PhD and strong record of scholarship, and a successful applicant will be expected to work collaboratively conducting nationally recognized pediatric cancer outcomes research. The Center for Behavioral and Mental Health at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta in conjunction with the Department of Pediatrics, Emory University School of Medicine, are expanding mental health services for medically complex children. We are seeking a Clinical Psychologist with experience in treating eating disorders in children and adolescents as well as their families. This position is eligible for a faculty appointment through the Emory University School of Medicine, if desired. - The psychologist will work within the Children’s general outpatient clinic as well as possibly within a medical stabilization inpatient service. Within these environments, evidence-based evaluation and treatment of a diverse population of children is provided for a range of eating disorders, including anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, atypical anorexia, and avoidant /restrictive food intake disorder (ARFID). - The psychologist will participate in program development and lead a combination of individual, family, and group therapy treatment. The psychologist will independently perform procedures, collect and analyze clinical data, and make decisions regarding patient care (e.g., initial screening, assessment, diagnosis, and prognosis). - Psychologists work closely with child and adolescent psychiatrists, psychiatric mental health nurse practitioners, behavioral and mental health therapists (LCSWs and LPCs), and nurse case managers to develop and implement a comprehensive care plan for each patient. - Psychologists participate in the training of psychology doctoral interns and postdoctoral fellows as well other behavioral mental health trainees. The psychologist may also provide supervision and leadership for master’s level clinicians within the eating disorders program. Faculty rank is commensurate with experience.
