The scholar will be performing research focused on the intersection of cardiovascular and brain pathology and understanding the bidirectional relationship between heart and brain in health and disease. This focus has encompassed studies of (i) how psychological stress impacts heart and brain health, (ii) how heart health can affect cognitive function, and (iii) how the brain-heart relationship contributes to disparities in cardiovascular disease outcomes. Other research interests include understanding the effects of diabetes on the cardiovascular system and developing innovative signal processing approaches to improve the diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular disease.
