Overdoses are the leading cause of maternal mortality in the US, and yet we have generated far too little evidence about who suffers them and when. Few effective medical therapies are available for patients with neuroendocrine neoplasms (NENs) and few models are available for drug testing. Our lab has recently developped 3 novel patient-derived models of these rare cancers. Two of our models express high levels of the chemokine receptor 4 (CXCR4). The goal of this project is to investigate the usage of CXCR4 inhibitors in NENs and identify synergistic combination therapies as treatment options.
