Staff Psychiatrist – Student Health Services

 

JOB DESCRIPION:  Performs clinical psychiatry duties in the Student Health Psychiatry Service, including psychiatric diagnostic and treatment services to patients with psychiatric conditions.  Prescribes medication and orders lab work and referrals when necessary.  Collaborates with other Student Health Services providers as needed.  Participates in Student Health Services staff meetings. Completes annual required mental health trainings, including cultural competency training and quarterly peer reviews.  Maintains knowledge of best practices in clinical psychiatry.  Reports to the Director of Psychiatry Services. 

 

Coordination and Outreach Duties:

Works with other departments in the Division of Campus Life (e.g. Counseling and Psychological Services) and with other Emory University departments (e.g. Emory College, graduate and professional schools) to more effectively meet the needs of students and the university community.  Serves on various committees, writes protocols and participates in campus outreach and other health education activities. 

 

 

Department of Psychiatry Duties:

Supervises psychiatry residents and fellows as assigned at Student Health Services. Participates in on-call activities and teaching as part of the Department of Psychiatry.  Performs related responsibilities as required. 

 

Minimum Qualifications:  A doctorate in medicine.  Medical licensure to practice medicine in Georgia.  Residency trained and board eligible or board certified in Psychiatry.
