JOB DESCRIPTION: Helps design and conduct research within a specified field while receiving advanced training from a designated Principal Investigator to enhance professional skills and research independence needed for pursuit of a career. The specific area of research in which the trainee is mentored is determined by the department and laboratory of the Postdoc. Designs and evaluates experiments. Develops new ideas that promote current research. Prepares and publishes scientific manuscripts under the direction of the Principal Investigator. May be responsible for operation of specific equipment. May teach techniques to others, train, and supervise research staff. Positions are temporary appointments as a research trainee. The initial appointment is for one year, renewal expected if progress is satisfactory and funds are available. Appointments cannot exceed five years.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A doctoral degree or equivalent (Ph.D., M.D., ScD., D.V.M., DDS etc) in an appropriate field. Excellent scientific writing ability and strong oral communication skills. The ability to work effectively and collegially with colleagues. Additional qualifications as specified by the Principal Investigator.
Appointment is for 1 year and can be renewed if progress is satisfactory and funds are available.

A recent or prospective doctoral graduate (Ph.D. or equivalent qualification) in an appropriate field, including but not limited to Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Public Health or Statistical/Computational Genetics. The candidate must have excellent scientific writing ability, strong oral communication skills, and an ability to work effectively with colleagues, both in-person and via teleconference. The candidate must have some epidemiologic training, be proficient with R-statistical software, and have some prior experience working genomic data (ie. DNA methylation or gene expression).
We are seeking two post-doctoral fellows to assist with NIH-funded research projects. The first project is aimed at identifying epigenetic predictors of children’s developmental impairments in a sample of infants that were born very preterm. The participants for this study are enrolled in the Neonatal Neurobehavior and Outcomes in Very Preterm Infants (NOVI) study, which is part of the NIH national Environmental Influences on Child Health Outcomes (ECHO) program (https://www.nih.gov/echo/about-echo). This project includes ongoing collection of bio-samples for epigenetic analyses and information on developmental outcomes from birth to age 7. Another project is aimed at understanding the impacts of prenatal PFAS exposures on the placental multi-omics and whether these perturbations are associated with growth trajectories and metabolic programming. This project includes PFAS biomarkers measured across pregnancy and from multiple tissues, placental ‘omics (DNA methylation, miRNA, & mRNA), and postnatal growth characteristics.
The post-doctoral fellows will work directly with the Principal Investigator (PI) Dr. Todd Everson, in the Gangarosa Department of Environmental Health at the Rollins School of Public Health at Emory University and will liaise with researchers at collaborating sites. The successful applicants will be involved in the analyses of longitudinal DNA methylation data, predictive modeling, multi-omics analyses, and contribute to drafting of manuscripts and presentation of research findings. The post-doctoral fellow will be expected to work independently on analyses, while coordinating with the PI and study personnel to complete projects. The PI will provide guidance and opportunities to enhance the post-doctoral fellow’s research and professional skills and provide opportunities to attend and participate in
