Description

The Program Director acts as the liaison to both the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine and the Office of Medical Education and Student Affairs. The Director will have responsibility for directing and leading the activities of the Doctor of Physical Therapy programs, the research enterprise of the division, and the clinical activity of the Division within the Emory Healthcare system. The Program Director provides leadership for program faculty, staff and students and develops goals and objectives for the program’s continued excellence in PT graduate education and assures continued accreditation of the program.

 

As a Division within the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine of the Emory University School of Medicine, the Physical Therapy Program offers education programs in the Division of Physical Therapy, including the Doctor of Physical Therapy degree program(s), the dual degree programs of DPT/PhD, DPT/MPH, DPT/MBA, DPT-MA (Bioethics), and PT Residency programs. Ranked in the top ten (10) of the physical therapy education programs, the Division of Physical Therapy (PT) has historically been and is currently ranked as the 8th leading PT educational program in the United States by US News and World Report. The Division of Physical Therapy is committed to pro-active, ethically engaged, caring leadership focused on the pursuit of excellence in scientific inquiry and in the application of validated scientific principles that allow optimal function in clients of all ages and levels of ability. We are seeking a leader with the vision, dedication and sense of collaboration to join our faculty and advance our tripartite missions of education, service and scholarship to a new level of excellence.

 

Qualifications: Successful candidates will be an accomplished leader in the field of Physical Therapy education and be able to present a vision for building and sustaining a top-ranked Division of Physical Therapy.  A qualified candidate will hold an DPT/PhD or related degree with eligibility for faculty appointment at Emory. The individual will provide senior leadership in all educational endeavors involving the Division of Physical Therapy with responsibility for the continued development of an academically distinguished division for the School of Medicine of Emory University. Candidates should possess a minimum of six (6) years of academic leadership experience and a minimum of three (3) years in an academic physical therapy program. S/he will be an accomplished operational and strategic leader with direct administrative experience to include a broad understanding of complex health strategies and issues challenging the field of Physical Therapy and its medical education programs.
