    Candler School of Theology invites applications and nominations for a cluster hire of up to three positions in Biblical studies to begin in fall 2020. Appointments can be made at any rank including Assistant Professor (tenure-track), Associate Professor (tenured), or Professor (tenured).

     

    The successful candidate will have a well-defined research focus within the field of New Testament, Old Testament/Hebrew Bible, or related discipline and will hold a Ph.D. in this field by the time of appointment. The ability to contribute to a broad theological curriculum and situate Biblical studies within larger ecumenical, multi-faith and/or global contexts is essential. Scholarly engagement pertaining to gender, race, and cultural diversity is highly desirable.  All applicants must have a demonstrated commitment to teaching and mentoring a diverse student body with respect to race, gender, and theological perspective.  

     

    The appointees selected for this position will develop and teach courses in several of the degree programs of Candler School of Theology, including the MDiv, MTS, and DMin programs. They will have shared responsibility for introductory sequences and regular faculty rotation in the Contextual Education program. Appointees will have a research and publication agenda to equip them to participate in the Graduate Division of Religion in the Laney Graduate School of Emory University. In addition to teaching and research, faculty members of Candler School of Theology are committed to service, both within the school and in the larger church and community.
