Emory Healthcare seeks a cardiothoracic surgeon for a faculty position with Emory University School of Medicine, Department of Surgery and Physician Member of The Emory Clinic, Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery. The faculty member will join Emory as part of the Emory-St. Francis cardiothoracic surgery partnership. The position will be based full-time at St. Francis Hospital in Columbus, GA and will work under the direction of the Medical Director of the program, Dr. Jacob Davtyan. Dr. Davtyan is an experienced cardiothoracic surgeon. Therefore this position would be a comfortable fit for another experienced surgeon or for an early-career surgeon who might benefit from senior surgeon support.
The Emory-St. Francis cardiothoracic surgery partnership has enjoyed great success since its inception on September 1st, 2016. In 2018, we performed over 200 cardiac and 130 thoracic operations achieving some of the highest quality results in the state. The program is growing rapidly. The number of cardiac cases in this first two years represents more than 150% growth compared to the previous years and continued growth is expected. The partnership brings excellent clinical care to the local community leveraging the longstanding expertise and experience of the Emory Cardiothoracic Surgery program. The faculty member will have the opportunity to perform both cardiac and general thoracic procedures as part of the only CT Surgery program in the third largest city in Georgia. The position will be a critical member of the Emory team at St. Francis working in collaboration with cardiologists, pulmonologists, cardiothoracic staff (including Emory-employed PA/NPs), anesthesia staff, hospital management, and the medical staff to promote the provision of high quality patient care and further development of the program.
Physician must be duly licensed to practice medicine in the State of Georgia, board certified in Thoracic Surgery, admitted as an active member to the Hospital's medical staff and employed by Emory. The physician must sign the Non-Compete Agreement of The Emory Clinic, Inc. as a condition of employment.
