The Pharmacology Department at Emory University has an immediate opening for a faculty position at the level of instructor. The successful applicant will be responsible for developing a vigorous research program closely aligned with ongoing studies of ion channel function in Dr. Traynelis’ laboratory. The job will entail the development of new analytical tools, new modelling tools, new genetic analysis tools, as well as supervision of experimental work with robotic patch-clamping equipment and automated patch clamp system. The applicant will manage experimental data obtained via these systems, develop analytical tools and implement these to evaluate high level questions about channel function. The applicant will be responsible for ensuring the publication of the results of these studies. The applicant will also be responsible for obtaining extramural support for a portion of their salary through grants and industrial contracts. The applicant will be expected to take advantage of teaching opportunities in the School of Medicine and GDBBS as they arise, providing between 1-4 lectures per year as well as participate in 1-2 small group medical student training sessions.

Preferred Qualifications
PhD, 2+ years post PhD experience, experience with software development, strong background in mathematics and mathematical modelling, experience with electrophysiological recording and analysis, experience with ion channel biophysics, experience with molecular biology, experience with genetics
