The Chief of Emory Surgery, Warner Robins and Perry, provides strategic, clinical and operational leadership for the development and integration of surgical services in central Georgia and at Emory Hospital Warner Robins and Emory Hospital Perry. This leader will serve as a primary liaison between Emory School of Medicine, Emory Healthcare and Emory Specialty Associates surgical leadership and the leadership team at Emory Hospital Warner Robins and Emory Hospital Perry, ensuring alignment in program development, faculty recruitment and engagement and perioperative performance.

This position will focus on extending Emory Surgery’s reach, building high quality programs, and shaping the future of surgical care delivery in a growing region, while remaining connected to Emory’s academic mission.

Key Responsibilities
• Lead development and growth of surgical programs in central Georgia and in Warner Robins and Perry, in collaboration with Surgical Services Department Chairs and Division Chiefs.
• Serve as an interface between Atlanta-based surgical leadership and Emory Hospital Warner Robins and Emory Hospital Perry.
• Oversee perioperative performance, including OR utilization, block management, throughput and access.
• Drive surgical quality, safety and performance initiatives.
• Support faculty recruitment, deployment and integration across surgical disciplines.
• Partner with hospital leadership to ensure operational infrastructure and scalability.
• Foster a high performing, team based surgical culture.
• Serve as a bridge between academic surgery and community-based care delivery, ensuring alignment across the central Georgia.
• Partner to develop strategy and system growth, aligning with divisional leadership and seeking innovative care paths that capitalize on regional access and exceptional quaternary services.

Qualifications
• MD or equivalent; board certified in a surgical specialty.
• Associate Professor or higher at Emory University School of Medicine.
• Demonstrated leadership in program development and surgical service line growth.
• Experience with perioperative operations, OR management and efficiency optimization.
• Strong track record in quality, safety and clinical excellence.
• Proven ability to lead across a complex, matrixed organization.
• A collaborative, strategic leader capable of building culture and driving growth.

 

NOTE: Position tasks are generally required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location.  Remote work from home day options may be granted at department discretion. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
