The Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing is committed to attracting diverse world-class faculty to advance the School's mission to educate visionary nurse leaders and scholars, generate and apply knowledge, and transform nursing, health, and systems of health care within the local and global community. We are seeking applications for doctorally prepared clinical track faculty in our Nurse Anesthesia (CRNA) Program to advance our teaching and scholarship mission. We invite applications from doctorally-prepared Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs) with experience as nurse educators and a focused area of educational or clinical scholarship in nurse anesthesia practice. Priority will be given to individuals who can teach across a wide array of clinical topics in nurse anesthesia at the graduate/DNAP level. Candidate must have current national certification through the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA). Clinical and didactic teaching responsibilities may include pharmacology, advanced physiology and pathophysiology, principles of anesthesia practice, simulation, and supervised clinical practicum experiences. Priority consideration will be given to individuals with expertise in specialty population/surgeries, e.g. pediatrics, obstetrics, cardiothoracic.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Teach didactic and clinical courses within the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) Nurse Anesthesia Program, including pharmacology, advanced physiology/pathophysiology, and principles of anesthesia practice
• Supervise, mentor, and evaluate students during simulation, skills-based learning, and clinical practicum experiences at affiliated clinical sites
• Develop, revise, and update course curricula to reflect current standards of nurse anesthesia practice
• Advise and mentor DNP students on academic progress, clinical competency, and scholarly projects
• Willing to engage in scholarship and research activities relevant to nurse anesthesia practice or education, including peer-reviewed publications and presentations
• Maintain clinical currency through ongoing practice as a CRNA
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary partners on education and scholarship initiatives

Required Qualifications (Education and Experience)

• Doctoral degree required (DNP, EdD, or PhD in Nursing or related field)
• Current certification as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) through the NBCRNA
• Current, unencumbered licensure (or eligibility for licensure) as a Registered Nurse and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse in the State of Georgia
• Current or recent clinical practice experience as a CRNA
• Experience as a nurse educator, preceptor, or clinical instructor in nurse anesthesia or a related advanced practice specialty
• For Associate Professor/Professor rank: an established record of teaching excellence and scholarship/research demonstrated through peer-reviewed publications

Job-Related Skills

• Strong clinical knowledge across anesthesia subspecialties (e.g., obstetric, pediatric, regional/pain management, cardiothoracic, critical care)
• Effective classroom, simulation-based, and clinical teaching skills across varied learning environments (in-person, distance/hybrid)
• Curriculum development and assessment design skills aligned with graduate-level competencies
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for scholarly writing, student mentoring, and interdisciplinary collaboration
• Familiarity with accreditation processes and regulatory/compliance requirements for nurse anesthesia education

Appointments may be made at the ranks of Instructor, Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor, commensurate with experience.

Candidates for consideration as Associate Professor or Professor should have an established track record as an educator with demonstrated excellence in teaching as well as research/scholarship as demonstrated by peer reviewed publications. Candidates must hold a doctoral degree (DNP, EdD, or PhD) and current certification as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) through the NBCRNA. Candidates who are nurses must hold or be eligible for licensure in the State of Georgia as a Registered Nurse and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (CRNA). Experience with nurse anesthesia program accreditation standards (COA) and clinical site/practicum coordination is preferred.
