Description

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • As Director of Engaged Learning, represents the CFDE in collaborations with other campus leaders, including in Campus Life and the Office of Government and Community Affairs, to support university-community engagement.
  • Leads the long-term planning to support faculty community-engaged teaching and related scholarship.
  • Plans, develops and implements a variety of workshops and seminars related to community engagement, partnership development, syllabus design, curriculum development, and community-based learning that is mutually beneficial for partners and the university community, especially students ; recruits speakers as needed; conducts one-on-one teaching consultations to support development of community-engaged approaches to teaching. Designs other related programming and manages the engaged learning budget.
  • Contributes to CFDE communications and website content development related to community-engaged pedagogy and scholarship.
  • Administers a grant program for community-engaged learning.
  • Represents Emory and helps to manage the university's institutional membership in national organizations such as Imagining America: Artists and Scholars in Public Life, Campus Compact and TRUCEN (The Research University Community Engagement Network); build on momentum created by Emory's recent successful re-classification for the Carnegie Elective Classification for Community Engagement.
  • Collaborates with CFDE colleagues to complete annual reporting of activities.
  • Performs related responsibilities as required. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Terminal degree (or equivalent) and five years of experience with community-engaged pedagogy and partnership development.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with experience in program administration, faculty workshop development, or other relevant activities.

NOTE: Position tasks are generally required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location.  Remote work from home day options may be granted at department discretion. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
