JOB DESCRIPTION: The Department of Radiology and Imaging Sciences at Emory University School of Medicine has an opening for an imaging and spectroscopy postdoctoral fellow. The primary research focus of our group is the development of in vivo magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) and ex vivo nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) for translational applications, including improved glioma monitoring, non-invasive brain thermometry, and identification of imaging biomarkers for traumatic brain injury. Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, is a private research-intensive university receiving over half a billion dollars in external research funding in 2016. Instrumentation, supported by the Center for Systems Imaging and the Emory NMR Research Center, includes two research-dedicated 3 T Siemens Magnetom Prisma whole-body MR scanners, HRRT PET scanner (CTI/Siemens), Siemens Inveon microPET/CT, 9.4 T Bruker animal MR scanner, and a 600 MHz magic angle spinning Bruker AVANCE NMR spectrometer.
Responsibilities for the position include data collection and analysis, subject recruitment, development of translational applications for new technologies, and preparation of peer-reviewed manuscripts. Specific research activities will depend upon the interests, background, and skills of the candidate who will be encouraged to develop new ideas and research areas. Salary is commensurate with experience. The initial appointment is for one year with expected renewal based on satisfactory performance. Appointments cannot exceed five years.
A doctoral degree or equivalent (PhD, ScD, EngD, etc.) in chemistry, physics, engineering, or related field is required.
