    JOB DESCRIPTION: Helps design and conduct research within a specified field while receiving advanced training from a designated Principal Investigator to enhance professional skills and research independence needed for pursuit of a career. The specific area of research in which the trainee is mentored is determined by the department and laboratory of the Postdoc. Designs and evaluates experiments. Develops new ideas that promote current research. Prepares and publishes scientific manuscripts under the direction of the Principal Investigator. May be responsible for operation of specific equipment. May teach techniques to others, train, and supervise research staff. Positions are temporary appointments as a research trainee. The initial appointment is for one year, renewal expected if progress is satisfactory and funds are available. Appointments cannot exceed five years.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A doctoral degree or equivalent (Ph.D., M.D., ScD., D.V.M., DDS etc) in an appropriate field. Excellent scientific writing ability and strong oral communication skills. The ability to work effectively and collegially with colleagues. Additional qualifications as specified by the Principal Investigator.

    The candidate will be working with Dr. Jingjing Yang (Ph.D., Assistant Professor, http://genetics.emory.edu/faculty/primary/yang-jingjing.html) in the Center for Computational and Quantitative Genetics, Department of Human Genetics, Emory University School of Medicine. The Yang Lab is looking for self-motivated and enthusiastic postdoctoral fellow to work on Statistical Genetics and Genomics. We mainly focus on method development and application of integrative analysis with multi-level OMICs data (e.g., DNA, RNA, microRNA, Methylation, Proteomics data), with the goal of understanding the underlying biological mechanisms of genetic associations with complex traits and diseases. We also work on association studies with functional phenotypes (i.e., trend curve, MRI images). The candidate will have opportunities to collaborate with members of the Center for Computational and Quantitative Genetics, as well as people from other departments at Emory and VA. Interested candidate should submit a Cover Letter, CV, Brief Statement of Research & Interest (less than 2 pages), one Sample Publication and Contacts for 3 references-Ph.D. in Statistics/Biostatistics, Bioinformatics, Computer Science or other relevant discipline with strong quantitative research background; proficiency in one or multiple of the popular programing languages, e.g., C++, Python, Perl, R; experience working with large genetics data and high-performance clusters are desirable.-76291BR
