Description

The Department of Environmental Sciences at Emory University invites applications for a two-year Visiting Assistant Professor position in environmental sciences. The ideal candidate will be able to teach existing introductory and advanced undergraduate courses related to planetary health (i.e., global environmental change, ecotoxicology & environmental contamination, one health), and/or sustainability science (climate solutions, renewable energy, or hydrology and water security), as well as develop new courses in their area of expertise. We welcome applicants with a broad range of specialties within environmental sciences particularly those whose work bridges theory and practice in real-world environmental contexts. This position is for a 2-year duration.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and teach introductory and advanced undergraduate courses in planetary health and / or sustainability science.
  • Participate in departmental activities and mentor students.

Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Interdisciplinary Ecology, Applied Earth Systems Science, Veterinary Sciences, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated expertise in planetary health and / or sustainability science.
  • Strong teaching skills and ability to develop innovative, interdisciplinary courses.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience teaching at the undergraduate or graduate level.
