Description

The ExPHR Lab at Emory University School of Medicine seeks a dedicated and highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Associate to join our innovative team. Our lab focuses on investigating the role of physical activity in promoting health and rehabilitation, particularly in aging populations with and without neurological impairment. 

 

This position offers a unique opportunity to develop expertise in clinical research focused on improving health outcomes for aging populations. You will gain hands-on experience in a leading-edge laboratory environment, collaborate with experts in the field, and enhance your skills in data analysis, publication, and grant writing.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION: Helps design and conduct research within a specified field while receiving advanced training from a designated Principal Investigator to enhance professional skills and research independence needed for pursuit of a career. The specific area of research in which the trainee is mentored is determined by the department and laboratory of the Postdoc. Design, execute, and analyze experiments that contribute to understanding how physical activity influences cognitive and physical health. Develops new ideas that promote current research. Prepares and publishes scientific manuscripts in top-tier journals under the direction of the Principal Investigator. May be responsible for the operation of specific equipment. May teach techniques to others, train junior team members, and supervise research staff. Present at national and international conferences. Positions are temporary appointments as a research trainee. The initial appointment is for one year; renewal is expected if progress is satisfactory, and funds are available. Appointments cannot exceed five years.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A doctoral degree or equivalent (Ph.D., M.D., ScD., D.V.M., DDS, etc) in an appropriate field. Excellent scientific writing ability and strong oral communication skills. The ability to work effectively and collegially with colleagues. Additional qualifications as specified by the Principal Investigator. Strong research skills with demonstrated ability to design experiments, analyze data, and publish findings. Excellent communication and teamwork abilities to collaborate effectively in a multidisciplinary research environment. 

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Background in health psychology, exercise physiology, or clinical interventions. Phlebotomy experience.
