Description

 

The Department of Radiology and Imaging Sciences is seeking a full-time clinical MRI Physicist. The Department operates over 35 MRI systems across the metro Atlanta area. The ideal candidate will work within a collaborative physics team to help manage clinical protocols and regulatory compliance, while fostering MR education, innovation, and best practices in quality and safety. Essential roles and responsibilities include:

  • Provide on-call technical and application support for MRI sites, including Emory Healthcare and Grady Health System.
  • Liaise with radiologists and technologists to ensure effective MRI protocol implementation, operational workflow, safety, education, and patient care.
  • Install, maintain, and update standardized MR protocols and sequences; oversee image quality; troubleshoot artifacts; improve operational efficiency.
  • Facilitate ongoing TJC and ACR compliance, through annual system surveys, image quality review, and technologist’s weekly QA/QC program oversight
  • Partner with administrative and physician leaders to develop and implement system-wide quality and safety policies and procedures. Serve as an MRI safety expert resource for technologists and radiologists.
  • Interface with MRI system vendors to document downtime, guide effective applications training, and explore collaborative project opportunities. Advise Department about new system technology, upgrades, purchases, and siting.
  • Provide MR physics education, training, and mentorship to imaging physics and medical residents; develop educational resources and sessions for technologists and radiologists.
  • Explore personal research interests through collaboration with other scientists and staff, including in-house quality improvement projects; partake in regional and national committees and conferences; educational endeavors within the department, as well as professional development activities.

Minimum Qualifications

  • PhD in medical physics or related physical sciences or engineering discipline.
  • Experience and knowledge of MRI physics principles, including clinical applications, safety, and compliance testing
  • Experience with MRI technology and system operation for GE and Siemens, including protocol and sequence optimization
  • Strong communication and time management skills; motivated, flexible and collaborative.
  • Certified or eligible for certification by the American Board of Radiology.
  • Faculty rank will be commensurate with experience and accomplishments.
