Discover Your Career at Emory University

Emory University is a leading research university that fosters excellence and attracts world-class talent to innovate today and prepare leaders for the future. We welcome candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of our academic community.

Description

The Department of Radiology and Imaging Sciences at Emory University invites junior, mid-career, and senior-level (Assistant, Associate or Full Professor) researchers with expertise in developing analytic methods (e.g., machine learning methods) for biomedical image, signal and data analysis, integration, and translation with a primary focus in genitourinary diseases to the clinic to apply for a faculty position. This is an opportunity to participate in building and growing our medical imaging data analytics research program centered on the state-of-the-art equipment and existing imaging programs. Emory Radiology and Imaging Sciences is an integrated cross-disciplinary scientific, administrative, and educational home for imaging sciences, with a focus on urology, neuroscience, oncology, and cardiovascular research.  Partnerships exist with Emory Healthcare, Emory AI.Health, Winship Cancer Institute, Rollins School of Public Health, Emory National Primate Research Center, Georgia Institute of Technology, Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, Marcus Autism Center, and industry partners within a collaborative environment.

The Emory Department of Radiology and Imaging Sciences (http://www.radiology.emory.edu/index.html) has a strong record of innovation in imaging research, including the development and translation of unique image data analytics techniques and machine learning technologies. This is an outstanding opportunity for an energetic scientist with interest in areas that complement and enhance the current research strengths of the Department (see http://www.radiology.emory.edu/research/). She/He will be expected to develop a cutting-edge, independently funded prostate informatics research program that includes strong intradepartmental and interdepartmental collaboration, as well as education. Researchers with expertise/interest in prostate imaging and the fusion of radiology-pathology imaging data are preferred. Available research dedicated resources include: 7T, 1.5 and 3T MRI research and clinical scanners, cyclotron, radiopharmacy, preclinical and clinical PET and PET/CT imaging systems, and a clinically capable whole-body PET-MRI. The integrated core environment supported by the Georgia Research Alliance (https://www.cores.emory.edu/georgia-cores-alliance/index.html) permits equal access to strong, translation focused, integrated core laboratories including Emory’s Center for Systems Imaging (https://www.cores.emory.edu/csic/) as well as the Department’s Nuclear Medicine Division (see http://www.radiology.emory.edu/clinical-divisions/nuclear-medicine/index.html).

The qualified candidate should hold a PhD or MD-PhD in health/imaging informatics, bioinformatics, computer science, biomedical engineering, or related field, and a strong publication record in imaging informatics that includes work in GU imaging. Should have demonstration of extramural research funding, as well as a strong commitment to education and mentoring the next generation of biomedical and physician-scientists. Primary responsibilities will include development of independent and collaborative research projects, generation of extramural funding, publication in peer-reviewed journals and supporting programmatic research activities related to imaging informatics and applications with an emphasis on prostate. Previous leadership, managerial, and educational experience are preferred.  Rank will be commensurate with experience.

The Department of Radiology and Imaging Sciences is fully committed to recruiting and retaining a diverse group of faculty and staff and to promoting a sense of inclusion and belonging for every member of our community. This climate for promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion is critical to achieving excellence in patient care, teaching, and scholarship. Underrepresented members in medicine and radiology are highly encouraged to apply.

Applicants should send a cover letter, curriculum vitae, and a summary of current and future research plans to: Dr. Krupinski, Search Committee Chair, Department of Radiology and Imaging Sciences, via email ekrupin@emory.edu.
