Description

The Emory Department of Surgery, with The Emory University School of Medicine, is seeking a full-time faculty member at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. This is an academic position requiring teaching and research responsibilities, in addition to clinical work. This position will work primarily at the Emory University Hospital (EUH) campus as an Emergency General Surgeon (EGS).

 

SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

  • Serve as an emergency general surgeon within the Department of Surgery with an active inpatient practice, taking surgical admissions through the emergency room, consultations on the floor and managing patients with acute surgical problems at the Clifton Campus.
  • Participate in the supervision, clinical education, training and development of residents.
  • Teach and Leadership of Emory students and trainees.
  • Participate equitability with general surgery and emergency general surgery call at the EUH campus.
  • Develop academic portfolio in alignment with SOM goals.
  • Participation in hospital and health system quality initiatives and relevant committees. 

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Board Certified General Surgeon
  • While not a requirement, additional fellowship training in trauma, critical care or an accredited acute care surgery fellowship will be considered favorably
  • A valid, unrestricted medical license to practice medicine in the State of Georgia
  • A controlled Substance Registration Drug Enforcement Administration Certificate
