Description

JOB DESCRIPTION: Is responsible for those aspects of the academic programs and services of Candler School of Theology relating to curriculum and the requirements of the degree programs, including managing academic operations and the development and administration of academic policies and regulations. Develops, implements and adheres to an annual academic budget and serves as the liaison officer for accrediting and licensure agencies. Provides strong leadership and direction to the academic department chairs, students, academic staff, and the faculty as a whole, working collaboratively with senior administration, faculty, and staff to shape a vision for the School within the mission and strategic plan of Emory University. Promotes an environment supportive of teaching excellence and facilitates the development, review, and revision of academic curricula, assuring their quality and relevancy, playing a leadership role in defining and promoting effective instructional practices for students with learning differences.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: PhD degree in a relevant discipline and 10 years experience in teaching and educational administration. Outstanding written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills, ability to facilitate and lead group processes and make professional presentations to different audiences is required. Strong leadership and managerial skills are necessary, as is demonstrated creative accomplishments in the area of academic program development and administration. Demonstrated experience in using the best principles and practices in higher education, particularly in the areas of curriculum and education program development, assessment and implementation is needed.
