Job Description:
Emory’s Department of Radiology and Imaging Sciences is seeking a visionary leader to be our next Vice Chair for Equity, Inclusion, and Outreach. The Vice Chair will serve on the department’s executive committee and will work to promote an inclusive and equitable culture and climate for the faculty, staff, and trainees in the department, health equity for the patients we serve, and outreach to the local and global community.
The Vice Chair for Equity, Inclusion, and Outreach will provide vision and leadership for the department’s journey of excellence toward a national model for advancing health equity, diversity, and an inclusive culture in the field of radiology. The Vice Chair will advise and work closely with the Chair to ensure implementation of best practices for promoting an inclusive and equitable culture and climate in the department, as experienced by faculty, staff, and trainees. The successful candidate will demonstrate integrity, strong leadership skills, emotional intelligence, empathy, and exercise cultural awareness.
The Vice Chair will be a member of the department’s Executive Committee, will lead/advise the department Equity, Inclusion, and Outreach Committee, and interface with Emory University School of Medicine’s (SOM) Diversity Council. The Vice Chair will advance a department strategic plan for Equity, Inclusion, and Outreach and develop, track, and communicate programmatic outcomes. They will work to identify sources of systematic bias, exclusion, and inequity in hiring, advancement, resources, and opportunity and will seek to remove such barriers, and collaborate with others to establish policies and procedures to address these barriers.
The faculty member serving as Vice Chair of Equity, Inclusion, and Outreach will be expected to dedicate 20% professional effort to the role.
