Description

We are seeking a skilled postdoctoral fellow whose expertise lie in machine learning applied to temporal domains. The candidate is expected to make novel contributions to clinical research and machine learning. Specifically, this position will involve developing sophisticated machine learning models that can be applied in real-time. The postdoctoral fellow may teach techniques to others, train, and supervise research staff. Positions are temporary appointments as a research trainee. The initial appointment is for one year, renewal expected if progress is satisfactory, and funds are available. Appointments cannot exceed five years.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A doctoral degree or equivalent in computer science, electrical engineering or relevant fields. Excellent scientific writing ability and strong oral communication skills. The ability to work effectively and collegially with colleagues. Additional qualifications as specified by the Principal Investigator.

 

Additional Details: The Emory University Department of Biomedical Informatics is recruiting for a post doctorate in the area of machine learning applied to healthcare. Working in a team of clinicians and PhD students this represents an opportunity to advance an academic career with strong mentorship and collaboration across schools and units.

Strong motivation for developing robust and generalizable machine learning models and a strong sense of responsibility to complete research in a timely manner are required. The position will be for one year in the first instance but with a strong likelihood of continuing for several years, with career progression. Candidates for post doctorate positions are expected to work proactively, participate in research discussions, publish scholarly research papers, and disseminate research results.

Strong programming skills in Python, Tensorflow/PyTorch are essential; Experience with computing in cloud environments is a strong plus; some experience with high performance computing and database administration is desired but not required.
