Description

Description

The Wallace H. Coulter Department of Biomedical Engineering, a joint department between Georgia Tech’s College of Engineering and Emory University’s School of Medicine (Atlanta, GA), invites applications for tenure track faculty at the assistant, associate, and full professor levels.

We are currently soliciting applications for faculty with interests in preclinical animal MRI to be appointed and located in the Emory University School of Medicine.  Emory is making a substantial investment in preclinical and clinical imaging under the auspices of the Center for Systems Imaging Core, https://www.cores.emory.edu/csic/. The expanded center is sited in a new building, completed in 2023, and includes a new 11.7 T MRI for rodents and a 7T MRI for humans.  A 9.4 T MRI for rodents and microPET are also available.

Successful candidates should have a research program synergistic with the existing strengths in the department and in the greater Atlanta community. Applications focused on preclinical brain imaging are particularly desirable but other areas of application will also be fully considered.

Candidates must apply online and attached all required doctuments; hold a doctoral degree (PhD, MD, or equivalent) in engineering, medicine, applied mathematics, computer science, or the natural sciences. Successful candidates will be expected to develop a vibrant externally-funded research program and to participate in teaching and advising undergraduate and graduate students.

Located in Atlanta, The Wallace H. Coulter Department of Biomedical Engineering at Georgia Tech and Emory University has a student body of 1,200 undergraduates, 260 graduate students, and 70 primary and 73 program faculty. Since its beginning, the unique partnership between two of the nation's leading public and private entities has been an innovation engine for research and education. Together, we are focused on solving some of the toughest problems facing our state, the nation, and the world. We are a diverse and international community of faculty, students and staff who promote equity, diversity, and inclusion on our campuses. We are aware that attracting faculty may require meeting the needs of two careers.  We strive to create and maintain an environment that values and respects our individual and communal differences, and to support a healthy work-life balance.

Applications will be considered starting immediately on a rolling basis.
Emory University is committed to Inclusion and equity in the recruitment and retention of faculty. The university diligently supports the training of disadvantaged students and those with underserved communities. We welcome candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of our academic community.
