The Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing is committed to attracting diverse world-class faculty to advance the School’s mission to educate visionary nurse leaders and scholars, generate and apply knowledge, and transform nursing, health, and systems of health care within the local and global community. We are seeking applications for tenured, tenure-track, and research track faculty positions in the field of Gerontology and Aging Studies. Led by an eminent nurse researcher, the school has drawn an interdisciplinary faculty to the Gerontology and Aging Studies program. Currently, Gerontology and Aging Studies faculty in the school lead centers for palliative care and dementia family caregiving and engage in scholarship examining the intersections of chronic illness and the social determinants of health. The school’s aging research portfolio is national in reach, entails collaborations with universities across the country, includes a wide variety of methods (psychosocial, ecological, physiological), and extends to heterogeneous populations. Appointments may be made at the ranks of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor, commensurate with experience.

 

As an integral part of the Robert W. Woodruff Health Sciences Center of Emory University, the School of Nursing maintains and seeks to extend research leadership and collaborative relationships with Emory’s many strong interdisciplinary initiatives. The school’s Gerontology and Aging Studies program enjoys very strong intercollegial research relationships through its own Roybal Center for Dementia Family Caregiving and its Palliative Care Program. Faculty are linked with the Woodruff Health Sciences Center for Health in Aging and collaborate closely with the Division of Geriatrics and Gerontology in the School of Medicine. Connections with Emory’s Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center, the Atlanta VA Geriatric Research, Education, and Clinical Center (GRECC), the Center for AIDS Research. The School provides many other interdisciplinary collaborative opportunities, including with colleagues in Emory’s Rollins School of Public Health, Emory’s College of Arts and Sciences, Georgia Institute of Technology, Georgia State University, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

 

Qualifications: Candidates at the assistant professor level must possess a research doctorate, have evidence of post-doctoral training, and strong potential for an actively funded program of research. Candidates at the associate and full professor level should have evidence of a sustained, extramurally funded program of research and strong track record of publications commiserate with the rank they are seeking. Candidates who are nurses must hold or be eligible for licensure in the State of Georgia.
