The Carter Center’s Mental Health Program uses the Carter Center's convening power to bring together health leaders and organizations to discuss important public policy issues facing mental health and substance use care systems nationwide and at the state level. In addition, the Mental Health Program is part of an international effort to reduce stigma and discrimination against people living with mental health and substance use conditions. The Center works with key partners at the government and community levels to help build sustainable mental health care infrastructure in post-conflict Liberia.
The jointly appointed faculty member will have a primary appointment as an Assistant or Associate Professor (CT) as a 12-month faculty member within the Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing and a secondary appointment in the Carter Center (TCC) Mental Health Program (MHP). TCC MHP will participate in the selection of the faculty member for this joint appointment. The faculty member’s salary and fringe will be allocated based on their joint appointment effort.
The faculty to be appointed will devote 40% effort to teaching and 10% effort to scholarship and service within the NHWSN and 50% effort providing nurse education expertise within TCC) Mental Health Program to:
global behavioral health workforce development, mental health advocacy, and antidiscrimination activities, and informing of global mental health policy work.
The faculty to be appointed will be expected to offer evidence of continuing achievement of high-quality teaching through multiple assessment measures such as:
administered in every course;
psych mental health,
development and teaching
Each academic year, the School of Nursing will communicate with the faculty member to determine the faculty member’s teaching and advising responsibilities in accordance with the department, program.
Appointments may be made at the ranks of Assistant or Associate Professor, commensurate with experience. Candidates for consideration as Associate Professor should have an excellent record of practice/teaching/scholarship as demonstrated by history of sustained grant funding and/or demonstrated excellence in teaching. Candidates who are nurses must hold or be eligible for licensure in the State of Georgia. Candidates most also hold a doctoral degree and have expertise in the area of psychiatric mental health.
