Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta (Children’s) and Emory University School of Medicine, Department of Pediatrics are seeking part or full time physicians board certified in either pediatric emergency medicine, critical care, or pediatric anesthesiology for faculty positions to care for children in our organized procedural sedation service at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston and Children’s at Webb Bridge. Applicants interested in joint positions with Emergency Medicine, Anesthesia and Critical Care will be considered per the needs of each department. Full-time and part-time applicants will be considered. Assistant Professor and above will also be considered.

Job Description
• Devote effort to clinical service within the Sedation Department, primarily seeing patients at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston and Children’s at Webb Bridge.
• Your clinical service would be the equivalent of 1,808 hours per year for a 1.0 FTE.
• Sedation physicians are required to cover all Sedation units. This includes all Egleston sedation units (Aflac Cancer Center, Radiology and Special Procedures) and Children’s at Webb Bridge.
• Devote appropriate effort to education of fellows and residents, by sharing in the teaching responsibilities of the Sedation Department while working and by teaching in other venues as opportunity arises.
• Participates in and incorporates Quality Improvement and research findings into practice.
Completes necessary documentation and ensures communication to facilitate patent care and appropriate reimbursement.
• Participates in meetings/activities as required to support operations of the clinical area.
• Participates in activities that enhance professional development (continuing medical education).
• Maintain Georgia state licensure, DEA certification, certification in BLS and PALS and maintains any additional specialty training/certifications as required by the area assigned.
• When possible, attend the Department of Pediatrics Grand Rounds at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston.
• Provide exemplary clinical service and assure that patients cared for by you only receive the highest quality care.
• Attend quarterly staff meetings and attend medical staff meetings and faculty meetings as appropriate.
• The Department of Sedation will support your participation in national procedural sedation courses.
• The Department of Sedation would welcome and support your participation in ongoing quality improvement and clinical research activities of the division.
• Performs other responsibilities as required.

At Children's, more than 350 Emory faculty members cover 30 specialties. Our staff is involved with pediatric clinical care, teaching, research, child advocacy efforts and treating patients at a variety of clinics and hospitals throughout metro Atlanta.
Our sedation service is one of the largest in the southeast. We sedate over 4,000 children annually with an exceptionally low adverse event rate. Sedation physicians will be responsible for covering sedations for inpatient and outpatient radiology procedures, outpatient oncologic procedures and urgent inpatient procedure consultations. In addition to teaching residents and fellows, administrative and research opportunities may also be pursued.
